The moments that become everything.
We spend so much of life waiting for something extraordinary: more time, a miracle, tomorrow.
Then Schalk met Tanya, and they built a life together. There was marriage, parenthood, laughter and the quiet rhythm of everyday life. There were also serious illness, lung transplants, uncertainty and the long, difficult work of hoping.
Through it all, life continued in the small spaces between the big events: family dinners, school runs, messages, shared moments and simply being together.
After Tanya died, Schalk began to understand those ordinary moments differently. What had once seemed like the background of their lives had become the very thing he missed most.
ORDINARY is a deeply personal story of love, caregiving, hope, loss and the uncertain journey of learning to live again. It offers no perfect answers. Instead, it asks us to look again at the lives we are living, and the people beside us.
